Growing the skillset of producers across Queensland is the focus with the launch of QTouring’s Pathfinders: Independent Producer Intensive.

Pathfinders is a week-long intensive bootcamp designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills required to build long-term careers as independent producers.

Taking place in Brisbane from 16 - 21 March 2026, the Queensland Government-funded program will bring together 10 early-career producers from across Queensland for a deep dive into the practice of producing new and existing work. The intensive will offer producers the opportunity to gain the tools and industry networks necessary to successfully manage, tour, and grow across the state.

QTouring has developed this initiative in response to a growing demand for skilled producers who can partner with artists to coordinate artistic and cultural projects, particularly in regional areas.

The Pathfinders bootcamp fills a crucial gap in Queensland’s touring ecology, fostering a statewide network of confident and connected freelance producers to complement existing organisations, collaborate with QTouring’s directory of in-development works, and build stronger pathways for touring.

Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government is investing in QTouring’s Pathfinders initiative to support long-term careers and grow the state’s creative economy.

“QTouring’s Pathfinders is delivering on our 10-year strategy for arts and culture, Queensland’s Time to Shine, and its vision for a thriving creative sector supporting a statewide vibrant arts scene." Minister Langbroek said.

"Through workshops, industry meetings, venue tours, and cultural activities, participants will cover vital topics such as budgeting, pitching, fundraising, logistics, engaging communities, and building relationships with presenters.

"The bootcamp will help address the shortage of arts producers and tour managers in Queensland, equipping emerging professionals with the expertise and networks to present regional touring programs"

Following the bootcamp, QTouring will continue to mentor and support the producers as part of QTouring’s emerging network of Tour Coordinators.

“Pathfinders: Independent Producer Intensive is about equipping Queensland-based early career producers with the tools and connections they need to thrive in the demanding role of delivering arts to Queensland regional and remote communities,” said Angela Chaplin, Director of QTouring.

“It’s an important step towards ensuring independent artists have access to skilled producers and tour coordinators who can help bring the exciting work of Queensland artists to audiences across the state.

"We really encourage both existing emerging producers and those looking to transition into producing, to apply and make the most of this amazing opportunity."
