About the work
Heartfelt tunes with a fiery folk-bluegrass edge from the multi-award-winning family band, the Haystack Mountain Hermits.
Inspired by their motto, “We Play We Sing We Fight,” the 2023 Australian Folk Music Awards and 23/24 ICMA finalists Haystack Mountain Hermits transport you to an acoustic world of sensational blood harmonies, coupled with the band’s fine musicianship, which will leave you spellbound as they weave traditional favorites and original songs into an unforgettable live performance.
The Haystack Mountain Hermits bring a sound steeped in tradition yet entirely their own. Hailing from Southeast Queensland, this family band has shared the stage with Australian legend Paul Kelly and performed at iconic festivals such as the National Folk Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, and Woodford Folk Festival.
Known for their extraordinary vocal harmonies, impeccable musicianship, and a seamless blend of traditional and original bluegrass and folk songs, their performances are full of energy, warmth, and the kind of genuine connection that can only come from family.
The line-up features Ella, Lachlan, Marcus, Jackson, and Dave Church, along with Kerrie Gambley, wielding an impressive array of instruments: bass guitar, banjo, ukulele, accordion, mandolin, and upright bass. Together, they craft a sound that’s as raw and honest as their lives touring Australia’s festival circuit.
