About the work

A comic interactive show for families. Stories are told and shared about clothing, within a traveling pop up menagerie.

Meet Polly and Esther. Two unexpected modern day superheroes, who travel the world in their menagerie gathering clothing and stories.

They are on a mission to seam together the old into the new and reduce the clothing footprint on our planet. The Seamstresses menagerie continues to be fuelled by your stories along with ‘Esme’ the one hundred year old crank sewing machine. SeamTogether is a 40 minute interactive an all ages hands on experience for small audience numbers (22 audience capacity).

Stories are told and shared within the intimate setting of the travelling menagerie (a pop-up tent 6m x 3m) which is made from up-cycled and donated fabrics. Audience members are invited to fill a bag upon entry of haberdashery to be used during the show. During the show, the audience are invited to learn new skills or share their skills as part of the performance experience to contribute to a collaborative sculptural artwork held in the menagerie. Participants will also have the opportunity to record and listen to stories as part of the experience.
