The day began with a dedicated First Nations Gathering, creating space for First Nations artists, presenters and arts workers to connect ahead of the formal conference program. Opened by Yugambeh Elder, Aunty Robyn Williams and Lucy Davis, delegates were treated to a moving Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony that celebrated First Nations arts and culture throughout history across the region.

Delegates then heard from keynote speaker David Burton, whose address examined the transformative role of arts education and the importance of ensuring future generations can access creative experiences. The conversation posed many questions to be answered by delegates, and the roles we play in facilitating future growth in arts education across Queensland.

Industry updates from key organisations across the sector provided valuable insight into emerging trends, advocacy priorities and future opportunities.Throughout the day, conversations flowed as delegates reconnected with colleagues and forged new relationships, laying the foundations for the days ahead.

The second day placed Queensland artists centre stage as the Arts Market showcased an exceptional range of 27 tour-ready works. Presenters experienced a dynamic mix of live excerpts, artist pitches and showcase presentations, offering a snapshot of the creativity, innovation and storytelling emerging from across the state.

From theatre and dance to music, circus and multidisciplinary works, the showcase sessions highlighted the breadth of experiences available for touring to communities throughout Queensland and beyond.

Between presentations, the Market Lounge became a hive of activity as artists and presenters continued discussions sparked in the showcase room. New relationships were formed, touring possibilities explored and future collaborations set in motion.

The day also featured thought-provoking sector conversations through the Touring Think Tank and Queensland Future Forum. Delegates tackled topics including audience development, sustainability, accessibility and the changing landscape of touring, sharing ideas and strategies for building a stronger future for Queensland's performing arts sector.

The final day entered full Conference mode, as we focused on the future of touring and the role of collaboration in creating a vibrant and sustainable arts ecosystem.

Delegates heard from keynote speaker Michelle Ryan of Restless Dance Theatre, whose presentation explored opportunities for neurodiverse and disabled artists and the importance of creating pathways for greater participation across the sector. Additional updates from Creative Australia, PAC Australia, QTouring and Logan City Council provided insight into initiatives supporting artists, presenters and communities.

Panel discussions and roundtable conversations explored the role of festivals, arts centres and regional partnerships in expanding access to the arts and strengthening touring networks. These discussions reinforced the collective commitment to ensuring Queensland stories continue to reach audiences in every corner of the state.

As QShowcase wrapped up for 2026, delegates left Logan with new ideas, stronger connections and renewed momentum. Across every keynote, showcase, workshop and conversation, the event demonstrated the power of bringing the sector together—celebrating Queensland voices while shaping the future of touring for years to come.
