About the work
A powerful fusion of breaking, live music, and storytelling, unveiling resilience, identity, and hope amidst chaos
Harmony Amidst Destruction is a high-impact theatrical dance performance blending breaking, contemporary movement, and live music to tell a deeply emotional story of resilience. Inspired by the Beirut Port explosion of 2020, the work follows two Middle Eastern dancers, Roj and Ralph Kabalan, as they navigate the aftermath of a life-altering event. Through intense physicality and raw expression, the performance captures the loss of identity and the power of art as a means of survival. Both visually striking and emotionally gripping, the work leaves audiences deeply moved and connected to its themes of hardship, hope, and rebirth. More than a performance, it is an experience that sparks conversation and fosters understanding.
The production is designed to tour in a flexible format across a range of venues and can be scaled for larger stages through expanded staging and production elements. Optional workshops and panel discussions are available to further engage communities and expand on the work’s themes. The work is well suited to festivals, theatres, and cultural venues seeking innovative and socially relevant programming.
