Toni Janke is a celebrated First Nations singer-songwriter and proud descendant of the Wuthathi, Yadhaigana and Meriam peoples of Cape York and the Torres Strait. Renowned for her commanding voice and emotionally rich performances, Toni's music is both deeply personal and politically resonant. Her songs blend raw storytelling with melodic strength, inviting audiences to reflect on identity, justice and resilience while remaining powerfully engaging and accessible.

Growing up in Cairns and Canberra, Toni began writing and performing music at a young age and has released an extensive body of work through her independent label, Toni Janke Productions which includes Hearts Speak Out (1993), The Brink (2000), Jewel of the North (2004), Eternal (2021) and recent single releases in 2023 and 2025. She has received national recognition, awards and performs at major festivals and events.

Toni is also a respected cultural leader and advocate. She serves as Chair of QMusic’s BigSound Goolwal Goolwal program, sits on multiple advisory committees and runs her own coaching consultancy. In 2024, she received an Australian Women in Music Award for promoting inclusion and cultural diversity. Her legacy continues through her upcoming theatre production, 'Inheritance' which explores her life and music and will premiere at QPAC in 2026.

Janke is joined by an exceptional ensemble including musicians Nicole Perry, Caz Higgs, and Kevin Haigh, actors Zalika Bani-Ghee and Emily Reid, and First Nations dancers Tjilala Brown-Roberts and Harold Pascoe with choreography by Jeanette Fabila, Cultural Consultant, Ruth Ghee and Dramaturg, Dr Angelina Hurley. The show is produced through a collaborative partnership between QPAC and BEMAC. It will also be performed at the Kingston Butter Factory in May 2026.
